Supporting our seminarian, Joel Flinn, who is on a journey of faith and preparation for priesthood, is a vital task that encompasses both spiritual and financial dimensions. As his church community, it is our responsibility to nurture Joel's growth and sustain him in his endeavors.
Spiritual support is essential. Regular prayer for Joel is one of the most powerful ways to show support. We can dedicate specific times during the week to pray for Joel’s intentions, struggles, and growth.
Additionally, organizing prayer groups or prayer chains can create a strong community of faith that continuously uplifts Joel in prayer. This spiritual network not only strengthens Joel’s resolve but also fosters a sense of belonging within our St. Peter community.
In terms of financial support, the cost of seminary education can be burdensome. Our Diocese allocates over $50,000 annually to support one seminarian, and the entire formation process spans seven years. To alleviate some of this financial burden, our St. Peter family can establish special funds or implement financial assistance programs. I propose organizing a program to financially support Joel’s education. We can call it “adopt future priest Joel Flinn".
Supporting Joel spiritually and financially requires a multifaceted approach that combines prayer, mentorship, financial resources, and community engagement. By working together, we can ensure that Joel feels valued, supported, and empowered to fulfill their calling.
Please prayerfully consider supporting Joel as he enters the seminary. Please make checks payable to St. Peter and write "Seminarian Joel Flinn" in the memo section. Checks may be placed in the offertory basket or delivered to the church office.

By becoming a Sponsor, you would journey alongside an individual who desires baptism or reception into the Catholic Church. This journey involves weekly classes, and it starts in September and culminates with the joy of Easter. Sponsors do not formally teach but instead, you would provide companionship and a living witness to the beauty of the Catholic faith. Walk with another on the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35) and take your first step forward, by contacting Deacon Nolan Behr (nbehr@diocs.org).

We welcome three St. Peter parishioners who are members of the Order of Malta, the Church's oldest, lay religious order, founded in 1099. Eileen and Bill Maggio and Teresa Crichton will discuss "The History and Mission of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta." Their presentation will include the history, mission and good works of the Order in the world today. The group meets in the PMC.
