Mr. Robert J. Golka (age 92) passed peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of Thursday, March 5, 2026. Robert died of a broken heart as his wife of 64 years, Patricia J. Golka, died two months earlier on January 5, 2026. Robert and Patricia are the parents of ten children including Most Rev. James R. Golka, Archbishop Designate of the Archdiocese of of Denver. Formerly Bishop of the Diocese of Colorado Springs. Funeral Mass will be offered Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 10:30am at the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Grand Island, NE. Funeral Vigil will be Monday, March 9, at 7 pm also at St. Mary’s Cathedral.

The Arimathean Ministry
The Gospel of John (19:38-42) relates the story of Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple of Jesus, who claimed His crucified body from Pilate and along with Nicodemus, prepared it for burial according to Jewish customs. From the model of Joseph of Arimathea flows this 'ministry of love' where the Arimatheans represent our parish family at the funeral Masses of fellow parishioners. Arimatheans, by their presence at a funeral Mass, help provide some comfort to families as they mourn the loss of their loved one, especially if there are only a few remaining friends or family members for elderly parishioners. Arimatheans are notified of funeral Masses via the parish prayer chain email. Funerals are typically scheduled mid-morning during the week. Please consider this simple, but powerful ministry for the families of our parish. There are no meetings. Arimatheans are encouraged to come whenever they are able. Parental Rights Petitions UPDATE
Protect Kids Colorado (PKC) recently turned in 508,000 total signatures to the Secretary of State's (SOS) office for the three parental rights initiatives we participated in last fall. 173,000 were collected for sex-trafficking penalties; 170,000 for protecting girls sports; and 163,000 addressing transgender surgeries. The SOS office has 30 days to validate all the signatures. PKC is confident the three initiatives will be on the ballot in November as 125,000 signatures are needed for each one. 75% of all signatures statewide came from Catholic parishes. Thank you to all the St. Peter parish volunteers who collected signatures and all the parishioners who signed petitions. Watch for more information in the months to come. In the meantime, please pray the "Litany of Sorrows for Colorado."

Lenten 40 Days for Life Campaign
The campaign on the Centennial Blvd. sidewalk outside Planned Parenthood is in full swing. Our parish is committing to fill one day: 8am- 6pm on Saturday, March 21. 40 Days for Life is the world's largest grassroots movement to end abortion. Since 2007, 184 abortion centers have closed, 275 abortion workers have quit, and over 26,000 babies have been rescued. This Lent take the grace of the Holy Mass into the secular world. Come out to pray for mothers in crisis and their vulnerable babies. Our presence at the foot of the Cross reminds the Pikes Peak community that people of faith will always stand up for the innocent. Contact Stephanie Kemp (stephanierkemp@gmail.com or 719-481-4355) to sign up and make your 1-2 hour commitment. The time goes by very fast. We'd like a minimum of four people each hour. Bring a friend, bring a spouse. Prayer aids will be available. God knows whose lives will be touched by our prayerful witness.

His presentation will be a meditation which will dive into the treasures buried in just 13 verses of the first Chapter of Luke (and a few from Matthew). Fish Fry Friday - March 13, 5-6:45pm
Come to Jaeger Hall for a delicious fish dinner prepared by our Knights of Columbus. The menu consists of grilled salmon, baked cod, clam chowder, side dishes of country potatoes, apple sauce and coleslaw, drinks and dessert. Meat-free pizza will be available for the little ones. The cost is $15 for age 13 and up, $10 for age 5-12, no charge for 4 and under. Bring your family for fantastic food and fellowship.

Easter Lilies in Memory of Loved Ones
Remember a loved one - those who have gone from us, and those who are still enriching our lives - through a memorial gift of Easter lilies. The flowers will adorn the church on Easter Sunday. The cost is $20 per plant. Please make your check payable to St. Peter Church and put “Easter lilies” and the name of the person you wish to honor in the memo section. Please place your order no later than Thursday, March 26.
